The Center for Recovery & Rehabilitation “Filoktitis”, built on a green area of 75,000 square meters in Koropi according to the ancient Asklipians, undertakes the post-hospitalization nursing of the patient. The Homeric hero Filoktitis (Philoktetes) was the first person in history to receive rehabilitation therapy from Apollo and Asklipios in Limnos. He was abandoned there by his comrades, having been bitten by a snake and being unable to follow them to Troy to participate in the Trojan war.
The treatment of the sepsis of his foot was carried out with a knife and is the first surgical operation ever recorded.
